Spring Break Mini Workshops:
April 14, 2-4 PM: Clowning workshop, $15. High school and middle school students
April 15, 2-4 PM: Makeup design workshop. Materials fee of $20, which can be applied toward any makeup purchase on the same day.
April 16, 2-4 PM: Monologue workshop, $15
April 17, 2-4 PM: "Quick and Dirty" Costume Design Solutions. How to solve costume problems on the fly. Learn how to recreate your favorite characters on a budget by adapting costume pieces. Tips and tricks to converting thrift store garments into other costume pieces. Simple makeup techniques. FREE
Class: Tuesdays 7:30-9:30 PM, beginning April 29th. Ages 16-adult. Class will include uses of actor training in the corporate world, "suggestive selling," interpersonal relationship skills, interpreting body language, improvisation and scene work.
SUMMER 2014 CAMPS:
All camps are held at The American Backstage Company, 5380 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia, 22304. The premises are just inside the Beltway, and a very short walk from the Van Dorn Metro station on the Blue Line. Free parking is available.
All week-long camps are $300. Discounts are available for siblings and repeat campers.
Each week is different -- join us for one or more weeks for drama fun and improv! Each camp session will include workshops on theatre crafts and make-up techniques, as well as an introduction to theatre appreciation. Improvisation will happen every day!

July 7-11 Comedy Camp, ages 8-12. What makes the comedy of Carol Burnett, Burns & Allen, and Abbott & Costello so timeless? Students will discover classic comedy sketches from the days of Vaudeville through the golden age of TV variety shows.
July 14-18 Improv Camp, ages 8-12. Students will learn about short form improv and theater sports of all types. Improvisational theatre games teach the fundamentals of theatre and stagecraft. Emphasis is on developing theatrical and comedic skills. Each improv camp week will be different -- that's the nature of this interactive art form! Activities include popular favorites as well as new challenges: Party Quirks, Death in a Minute, Space Jump, Props, 90 Second Alphabet, Criminal Minds, Typist Narrator, Emotional Zone, The Harold, La Ronde, and more.
July 21-25 Storytime Theatre Camp, ages 8-12 This fun-filled week of improvisational theatre games will focus on classic folk tales and fairy tales as students learn the fundamentals of theatre and stagecraft. Students will stretch their imaginations and minds as they explore story structure.
July 28-August 1 NEW! Costuming Camp for high school students. Limit 6 students.
August 4-8 Acting Master Class for high school students. Develop your acting skills with scene study using methods developed by Ute Hagen, Constantin Stanislavski, Sanford Meisner, and Stella Adler.
August 11-15 Audition Intensive for high school students. Prepare for college auditions or your fall shows.
August 18-22 Advanced improvisation "boot camp" for high school students.
