      You Want Uncle Sam!

       Memorial Day is just around the corner.  We have a great range of patriotic costumes, from Uncle Sam (four different versions) to the Statue of Liberty (complete with headdress and torch).  Just about any historical character can be brought to life with costumes from American Backstage.

      48 Hour Film Adventure

Knight costumeThe American Backstage Company is now open to serve you.  Our store hours are 9:30 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Saturday, and 12 to 5 PM on Sundays. 

The American Backstage Company is Washington’s premier full-service theatrical store, offering costume rentals and sales, accessories, dance shoes, theatre scripts and books, wigs, hats, costume jewelry, and theatrical makeup. We provide costumes for all types of events, from high school musicals to Halloween costumes to Cosplay and Comicon activities to church plays and pageants. We are proud to serve the performing arts community in Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland.

Our 6,500 square foot store has thousands of rental costumes, an entire wall of hats and wigs for sale, a book room where actors can browse to find the perfect audition monologue, new dressing rooms, in-house laundry facilities, and many types of dance shoes. New stock is arriving daily.

Books

Need scripts?  We have thousands, a much larger selection than you can find anywhere else in the area.  Come browse in our Book Room for playscripts, sheet music for musicals, books about theatre history, theatre tech, costumes, the art of acting, makeup, theatrical magazines, audition monologue books, anthologies, and film. 

Although our bricks-and-mortar store is fully open, our online store is not yet Sheet musicoperational.  So please visit our store in person, and call or e-mail with any questions.

The American Backstage Company is easy to get to.  We are located at 5380 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, just inside the Beltway and a 2-minute walk from the Van Dorn Metro. Free parking is available in our lot.
